Our Staff

Pastor Amy has served as Senior Pastor at Calvary since 2003.  Her job is to lead the congregation in faithful response to the direction of God’s Spirit . . . which has often taken this church places it never expected!  Pastor Amy holds degrees from Baylor University (BA ‘91, MA ‘96); The International Baptist Theological Seminary (BDiv ‘95); and Wesley Theological Seminary (DMin ‘09). Before coming to Calvary Amy worked with the homeless community in New Orleans, and served as Associate Pastor at St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans.  Pastor Amy holds the deep conviction that the institutional church can be part of bringing in the Kingdom of God here and now, and she feels extraordinarily fortunate to walk the journey of faith these days with Christ-followers at Calvary who feel the same.  In her free time she loves to travel, read, garden, and write.  She often comments on faith and life in general on her blog, Talk With the Preacher.  You can also read her columns every two weeks on the Associated Baptist Press.  Wondering about Calvary, interested in conversations about faith, or just looking for a great cup of coffee?  She’ll happily join you—feel free to contact her.  Email Amy.
Pastor Leah serves as our Associate Pastor of Congregational Life. She first joined the Calvary staff in May 2008 as our Associate Pastor (Resident) through a Calvary partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s Initiative for Ministerial Excellence. In April 2011, she was called as our Associate Pastor for Congregational Life. Leah studied at Baylor University. She received a BA in Journalism and Spanish in 2004 and in 2007 received a Masters of Divinity from Baylor’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. At Calvary, Leah works with our small groups, new members, visitors and helps plan worship. She was a 2010-2011 member of the Lewis Fellows Outstanding Young Clergy Program and is the Assistant Editor for the Young Clergy Women Project's publication, Fidelia's Sisters. If you ask her, she’ll tell you all about her love of traveling, the liturgical year or the Redskins (however heartbreaking it may be)! She would love to meet you for coffee, tea and hear your story. Email Leah.

Hailing from El Salvador, Rev. Palacios received his bachelor degrees in Theology and in Sociology, and a Masters in Social Science from the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO) in Mexico. He was a co-founder of the National Council of Churches in El Salvador and served as its Executive Director for three years. Rev. Palacios was also the general coordinator for peace during the years of fratricidal bloodshed in El Salvador.

At Calvary, Rev. Palacios also serves as missionary pastor for the Latino fellowship at Calvary as well as in the greater Washington, DC area. His greatest interest at this time is continuing to build up the church upon Jesus Christ, a church with healthy growth, which invites individuals and families into a deepening personal relationship with Jesus Christ. For more information about Calvary's Latino community, email Pastor Edgar.

Paul's work at Calvary combines his experience in administration, technology, and facilities management with his love for congregations. He joined the staff as church administrator in December 2004. A native of Pittsburgh, Paul grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. Before coming to Calvary, he was a member of the staff at National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C., serving most recently as director of facilities and technology. Paul has been active in the various congregations of which he has been a member. He has served as trustee, elder, deacon, small group coordinator, and youth leader. Email Paul.
A native of West Virginia, Harold Came to Calvary some 22 years ago, and declares that his part-time work as office manager is a God-sent mission rather than a job.  He has attended both West Virginia State College and Roosevelt University in Chicago. Having retired (well sort of) he continues to take his responsibilities at Calvary very seriously, volunteering one day a week. In addition to church administration, he enjoys good preaching, good music and is always up for a good Scrabble game.  Email Harold.
Al first came to Calvary in the late 1960s when he was a child.  He was a long-time member of Calvary and began serving 1991.  As a young teen, Al accepted Jesus at a revival in North Carolina, and his life ever since “has been a journey to serve my Lord Jesus.”  Here at Calvary, Al feels he has been able to use his skills to serve Christ in his vocation.  His prayer is that he can always serve Jesus in as many avenues as possible.  Email Al.
